Workshop Overview
Join us for a hands-on workshop designed to help you navigate cases with Limited English Proficiency (LEP) parties in the courtroom. Gain insight into the challenges faced by LEP parties during interpreted proceedings, and learn how to mitigate them. Get comfortable using Zoom's simultaneous interpretation mode, and learn best practices for working with interpreters to ensure efficient proceedings without sacrificing the quality of interpretation or your arguments! 2 CLEs in the Ethics-Equity category have been approved by the WSBA for legal professionals who participate in this workshop.
Note: This workshop does not address how to manage the Zoom interpreting feature on the meeting host end, typically the duty of the clerk, coordinator, or bailiff. However, it is an excellent introduction to remote simultaneous interpreting for judicial officials unfamiliar or not yet comfortable with this option!
